Thoughts

I might not relay this story 100% accurately... so if you were there, just dont correct me ok. Just my perspective is really all you will get here on this blog... *unless its that time of year that katie posts*

Tonight after getting home from my anatomy review class I chilled with my mom for a bit then went to visit with some friends. I love it when you get a room full of people with different thoughts on the same subject. It can get tense at times....but sometimes, such as tonight it took a turn for a little bit that I thought was interesting. It started out by talking about how we compare ourselves to each other. Guys mostly in the sense that they want to be other guys (competition) and girls just want to BE other girls...(this is all just general...it obviously doesn't hold true with each and every guy and gal) It was all very general talking and then New Friend said a few things that made me think. Or maybe just reminded me of where I stand with my Father in Heaven. He was talking about babysitting for his nephews and how it made him think about becoming a parent someday. Just thinking about the lessons you can learn about being a father from kids and how to compare that with our relationship with God. He got to watch his nephews one day and everything was good until he heard the 4 yr old scream really loud and then he heard a door slam and he went to go see what was wrong. The 4 yr old was in the bathroom crying and freaking out because he had accidentally wet his pants. He knew how much this was something his father hated. Or maybe he knew it would displease him. Now in reality that lil boys father got home and heard about it and said eh, no big deal. It happens. He just wants him to know that its not good. He didn't stop loving him or even punish him because of what happened. Maybe all this isn't a complete and perfect parallel but even still....He did demonstrate a good point to me. That lil boy has stopped wetting his pants. He originally wanted to make sure he did what was right and good and didnt want to make his father upset because he knew how much he hated it when he peed his pants. Sad to think this 4 yr old was so hard on himself whenever all he needed was a friend, (or uncle) to help him clean up the mess. His father just taught him what was right and tried to do it because he loved him. I guess I think I need to take a look inward and recheck motives for myself. AND try to just clean up the mess after my mistakes and realize Heavenly Father wont hate me because I make mistakes. I just need to try to keep doing better and not make it a habit of bad patterns. Thats totally it. Its repentance. Who thought a kid wetting his pants could ever turn into such a lesson. It was just interesting...I'm not even sure I wrote down all the major points here, but seriously....It was good...and totally off the cuff. I know he didnt come over planning to tell that story. It really was just his testimony. Almost got a lil teary eyed telling the story. Came from the heart. I needed a good -make me think- story/lesson tonight. Thanks New Friend. I will do better. I know I can change my ways.

What do you think of my friend?

So this is my nephew Bryce.... And I'm babysitting him and his brother tonight because its my sister in laws birthday. I'm kind of sick of watching movies and wrestling on the floor with them. So I decided to come check facebook. Checking mostly on the events of tomorrow. Well I was trying to keep him occupied by asking him questions so he wouldn't get bored too fast. He says he is too scared to watch the movie in the living room by himself. GIVE ME A MINUTE CHILD...OK I'm working on patience. anywayyyyy so I decided to ask him... What do you think of my friend? Does he look nice? He , without blinking, says...no he isn't nice. So naturally I had to ask why??? He then proceeds to tell me its because he has bad hair. And he keeps telling me he is tired and wishes i could be done. Sorry baby boy, that was too funny. I had to blog about it before I forgot.... Now its bed time. I'm done! You can now stop playing with my hair behind me and talking about my friends' hair. Its off to bed! YES I LOVE SLEEP!

Spandex is not for everyone... (written by Katie Bills)

The week that contains November 11 is also referred to as the Week of Katie in honor of Celebration of Katie, 11/11, Katie Bills' birthday. This year, to close off week of Katie, Beth Benson and I spent the day at the outlets in Jeffersonville and then the fab mall of Easton in Cbus. While we wandered from store to store, considering several different options for my future jeans purchase, we first were cornered by the ladies at the Benefit cosmetics counter and got a lovely makeover. Beth in blush is a little much and Katie with bronzer takes some getting used to, but those women were pretty funny. How can you not like people who are selling you Bad Girl Lash mascara and the Primpcess. Love that! From there, we wandered to Express. Now, I love Express because the Editor pant is the most brilliant design of dress pants I have ever tried on. They're magical! Like the traveling pants; they look good on anyone. Express at Easton is a huge store and there were so many party/rocker chic outfits. There are certain things I can't resist. One is the combination of creamy caramel and milk chocolate, but the other is the opportunity to try on an outfit I would NEVER wear in public. On a dare from Beth, I grabbed a pair of plether pants, a mock turtleneck with a crazy pattern, and a leather jacket. I rock plether, as seen here.

But I digress...let me get to the core of this post. After choosing my new jeans, Beth saw a pair of sequined spandex pants.
"Katie! Why didn't you try these ones?!"

"You know, Beth, I would totally wear those if I had awesome boots that came up to my knee and a shirt that covered my bum."

"I totally saw a girl the other day wearing just leggings. No long shirt to cover. So weird! Reminds me of the eighties."

(pause)

Just at that moment, a group of girls walked in and one girl was wearing a pair of black leggings, a plaid shirt, and Ugg boots. What is this?!? As we walked out of Express, we saw at least 3 more women scantily clad in spandex and then the stretchy pants continued in the Easton quad. Now, when I lived in Bellbrook as a child, bikers abounded. Not the type who have too much hair, lots of leather, and Harley's. This type of biker pedals his feet while wearing spandex for its aerodynamic properties. I learned early in my life that spandex is not for everyone no matter what function it takes, and I remebered that Friday in Easton. Girls, leggings should be worn sparingly. And even then, layering is good. Very good. For everyone.

The Thankful Post

Well its November as many have pointed out. It's time to talk of thankful things. It's time because of the month/season and because I've had a pretty cruddy day. And when cruddy days come my way I've been reminded to stay positive and think of the things you are thankful for. My favorite reminder was in pep talk form "life is short. 80 yrs Benson". I always love it when friend Mary talks to me by my last name as if she is my coach. Cracks me up. I love it. Life Coach Mary. Thank you for your simple little text reminders that life is short and to be positive. I know it doesnt matter that all my pockets in my scrubs are all coming undone at the seems and I dont know how to sew in the slightest bit. I'll survive.
I know that even though I have no money for food I'll be taken care of. That makes me thankful for the generous roommate who has a food storage that could feed a family of 8 for multiple weeks and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Thanks!
I'm also thankful for low gas prices right now. I have to drive to columbus a couple times a week for the next few weeks in preparation for my upcoming exam. I can't really afford that either, but it has to be done.
So even though I'm super stressed out I'm so very thankful that there are things that make smile. I am most greatful at this time in my life for friends. I think some days I should name them one by one but even then I dont think they'd even get how much they all are a huge blessing. They make me laugh ...and well...laughing is so good. This picture here...just a small demonstration of two of my good friends. Andrew= seriously people, look at that face....I have spent many nights chatting with or hanging out at my house with this one. Much appreciated. I hope he doesnt get transfered to another airforce base anytime soon. I wish more of his fun side could show through in this picture. Andrew is with Katie, my dear, dear, Katie. We went shopping for her bday the other day. (I'll leave that post up to her....she hasnt crafted a blog for me in awhile...this is the perfect opportunity). It was a fabulous day.
and... I'm so thankful for music.
and last but not least...thankful for sleep no matter how little of it I get sometimes. I'm a huge fan.

Tagged....

So I got tagged, go to the 4th photo in the 4th folder...post the pic...and explain.
That type of deal :) hahaha this makes me laugh cause this picture isnt even mine. BUT I have it because BEN, thats who this is....is a friend of mine from BYU idaho. He started blogging and I was looking at his pictures when he finally added me to his blog. I was kinda shocked that he decided to grow a goatee when he left school. This was a picture I wanted to show someone else...probably sam or someone. I was thinking...wow, ben looks so different so i only saved it so show someone else. and now i'm feeling like a super freak, oh well, now you know ben (that is if you even read my blog) I saved your picture in my 4th folder. U still have the Goatee? or have you shaved it off since then? It suits you pretty well. anyway...not tagging anyone. Thats all for tonight.

Amelia's

So i went to Eat tonight with my friend katie bills. We ate at amelias. A lil place in downtown bellbrook ohio. Super cute and super good. Im really full to say the least. I had smoke salmon with fetticine. She had chicken. Then dessert mmmmmm she had bread pudding and i had 'big ass chocolate cake' they brought out the platter with all the choices. I knew i needed the chocolate! It was a long full enjoyable meal and meal time. Atmosphere was great. And basically my favorite part was katie doodling on the brown table paper. A face and the future wedding dress. 'When and if there is ever a wedding' so i had a great night. Now its time to watch greys instead of the office this week and perhaps text a few more friends. Maybe when i can ill post more pics i took multiple tonight on my phone. It was all really pretty food!

Halloween with friends...

My friend Mary from work came with my to a halloween party after we went to a work one. Good times.
Geoff and Will. Um, i'm speechless. Too much guy love in that room.
Me and Bob. Beach bum or something. I dont know.

I was trying to pull off the 80s look again because the costume I wore at Jakes house I about froze to death in. Jessica brought cute lil mice treats. mmm mmm good. Andrew must've had a special attachment to this mouse. or just likes to look shocked for no good reason.
And...we set up this stuff outside...and there was a black leaf. Is that suppossed to be creepy? I was giving my best creepy look. Eh, I thought it was a funny picture. I love those arm band deal things. So warm and you can still use your fingers! amazing. I love the 80s. Probably a good thing. I was born in 1980 ya know??

Halloween at Jakes House....

Just a few pictures from going trick or treating in Jakes neighborhood.

I went out there with Jared and Nikki. This is their youngest Angela. (the Lion) and Jennifer was a bee, but i didnt get a really good picture of her. OOps.
Then this is Brandon and Bryce and their neighbor friend. She was Hanna Montana...and they were The Jonas Brothers. It was just too funny that we were pulling around a wagon that had a stereo playing the Jonas brothers music. Bryce was seriously singing as he walked up to houses. He loved that guitar too. It cracks me up how much they love music. They share and MP3 player. I think thats the only reason they known almost all the words to every song they know.
This second picture was about the same time as the first, but i took it on my phone. Not as good...but i still wanted to add it. They were rockin out for us. Stacey did such a good job on picking out all the clothes/shoes for their costume. And the black hair spray was awesome too. So funny.

Jake got many compliments on all of his pumpkins. He does new cool ones every year. My favorite one from a few years back was chicken little. This was my favorite one this year though.

AND...last picture...Jake sitting on the porch passing out candy. I kind of got tired of walking around with the kids. Not to mention my costume was making me freeze. So I sat with Jake and watched the kids all come and ask for candy. Some kids were so hilarious. We were giving the bengals fans a hard time. Telling their parents to buy them browns stuff next year. And my favorite were the kids who walked up and didnt say anything. So Jake encouraged them.."now what do you say??" oh it was soo funny. Um..."thank you?" , "please".... TRICK OR TREAT!!! haha Jake was like. Um, why did you say thank you, I didnt give you anything yet. He was having wayy too much fun.

UPDATE..

So the Board never called back. FYI...so I left another message today.
and just a few pictures I wanted to share from this last week.
Sunday: Took a pic of Katie Holly and Wendy. This is the alley we had to walk through to get to our cars after church. Yes I go to church downtown dayton. Its seriously the ghetto. Can you tell? do you believe me? We have a guard hired to watch our parking lot. I want to go to church in another building. We never keep the doors unlocked either apparently. The back one we normally go in was blocked by scaffolding. You would think the front ones would therefore be unlocked. NO! and of course everyone decided they were going to pay attention to rules today and turn their phones off. I texted and called I cant even say how many people to try and get in the building. I had to work and so I got there late. OH MY OH MY... I finally got one of the missionaries to come open the door for me.
This was just a random picture of the clouds from Saturday morning. I slept at my brothers house because he needed someone to keep an eye on his kids while he went to pick up his wife from work. So I got up early and drove home. I thought the clouds were super cool. So I took a picture. Not going to see that one ever again. :) made me smile.

Yesterday...we got a piano. My roommate Holly works for Habitat for Humanity. They have a RE-Store (just what they call it) People donate stuff to the store and then the store is open a few days a week to just sell things. Well someone called and wanted to donate a piano. Holly was the first on that one to say she wanted to buy it. We are so super excited to have a piano in our home/apartment. We did some major moving of furniture around. And now the major task is getting the smoke smell out of it. ANY IDEAS? I've heard vinegar, apple slices, coffee, baking soda.....are all things that would absorb the smell. I have taken multiple layers of nasty film/nicotine or something off the piano and we are letting it air out, but man... Smoking isnt just bad for your lungs. Its bad for your surroundings too! I read something online that a woman had said they now own a musical ashtray. Seriously. Its making our house WREEEEK. I'm so glad the weather is nice enough to keep our front door and windows open so it can air out. Hopefully its really helping the piano. And hopefully we get it tuned soon. Now to just teach myself how to play left hand. I have already taught myself everything I know how to play on the piano. Mostly just enough to sing a few hymns.

Miracles happen....

and no...not referring to the miracle of marriage. I'm not engaged and this so much less of a miracle. In fact its silly that I'm even excited that I got this phone call. I've been waiting to hear from the ohio state medical board now for a good 3 months. NOTHING. Until today. I got a call from Carolyn at the medical board. She starts off by saying she has my application and is looking over it. Then proceeds to tell me to go online and download this form. Then stop mid-instruction to say....oh I already have that from you. uhh...let me review your application and then I will call back. Can this miracle happen twice in one day? Do you think she will really call me back? After all the voicemails I have left I thought someone would know my status or my name and maybe have pity on me. Maybe just say, okay, you can take the test. Its not even a guarantee that I will pass and get my license. I at least want a shot though. Test is in 4 weeks. Last week I decided I would call a Therapist in my area to talk to her about her experience with getting licensed. See if she had any advice. I decided to ask her about a loop hole in the laws that I had heard about. I have tried to find it on the website...but I couldn't find anything. Apparently its true though. You can practice massage in the state of Ohio without a license if its "relaxation massage" and you don't call yourself a Massage Therapist. Not totally sure how that all works. I guess I am certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworkers. I could technically call myself a Bodyworker, or just a masseuse. I think either one of those is a lil silly....Maybe I just go along like I have always been doing and just say. I'm not licensed here in Ohio, but I AM licensed in AZ. And I do have training. I guess this woman was telling me of multiple people she knows who aren't even trained that are charging people for massage. Why is it even regulated. What is the difference between Medical Massage and Relaxation Massage? I guess I should find that out if I want to be considered being called a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Ohio. Its all super frustrating to me. But in the mean time....Yes, whatever you want to call me, I will come to your home (out call massage) and give you a massage. $60 for an hour if you are in the area.
